Bayern star Muller banned from Liverpool Champions League clash

UEFA have banned Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller for two matches after he was sent off against Ajax in the final game of the Champions League group stage against Ajax.

He was given his marching orders during the thrilling 3-3 draw with Ajax after catching Nicolas Tagliafico with a head-high challenge.

The incident did not appear intentional, as Muller himself clarified on Twitter after the match: "I would like to apologise to Nico Tagliafico". His studs connected with the Argentine defender's face and Clement Turpin showed him a straight red card.

That means Muller will play no part in a heavyweight meeting with Liverpool, though Bayern have confirmed that they will appeal the punishment.

Later that day, Kelly apologized to NBC staff in a memo, which was then criticized by Al Roker during the first hour of Today on October 24.

Ajax defender Maximilian Woeber will miss both legs of his team's last last-16 clash with defending champions Real Madrid after also being banned for two games.

Liverpool will host Bayern Munich on February 19 at Anfield in the first leg. Bayern Munich will welcome Liverpool to Allianz Arena on March 13 for the second leg.

He was suspended from Croatia's next UEFA competition match, which is the Euro 2020 qualifiers at home to Azerbaijan in March.

UEFA also threatened Eintracht with a one-game ban on selling tickets to an away game in the Champions League or Europa League in the next two years.
