Apple reportedly plans to introduce three iPhone models this year, including a follow-up to the company's much debated iPhone XR.

WSJ does state that Apple is too deep into the product planning for this year's phones, so the company isn't changing major features like the display on the iPhone XR yet.

The iPhone XS and XS Max have two rear cameras, while the less expensive XR has a single camera, but the latter has numerous same features as its higher-end counterparts. iPhones already take great photos, but Apple appears to be looking for an edge that can help it better compete in key markets like China, where competitors often offer handsets with similar features at lower prices. The iPhone XR, which is believed to have been the least popular of the three, will be updated with a model that comes with the same LCD display and similar design, according to the report.

As with any rumor, particularly ones this far out, we'd take all of this with a pinch of salt, but it would make sense for Apple to up the number of lenses on its phones, since many rival handsets now have more than two. "It would also hurt core users that just bought these devices at the original prices".

Customers gather as they take part in a class to learn how to use their iPhones at an Apple Store on January 7, 2019 in Beijing, China.

Soon after the newspaper's report was published, expert concept render artist Ben Geskin posted mock-ups of the three handsets, based on 2018 iPhones.

Trump may use Puerto Rico, California disaster funds to build border wall
Defense Department officials discussed the plan with Trump Thursday as he traveled to the southern border. He claimed his lawyers told him the action would withstand legal scrutiny "100 percent".

An Apple spokeswoman didn't respond to requests for comment.

More importantly, what do YOU want from this year's crop of Apples?

The XR has struggled to take off since it was launched in October a year ago.

"Apple has always been a laggard in cellular technology", said Mark Hung, an analyst at Gartner, told Bloomberg. "But if they wait beyond 2020, then I think they'll be impacted".

"Cutting the price of devices so soon could hurt Apple's premium brand image", Jia said.
