Trump Concealed Details Of Putin Meetings From Administration Officials

The paper cited current and former USA administration officials as saying that in one of such instances, Trump confiscated his interpreter's notes and prohibited him from discussing the details with other officials in his administration.

Trump did so after a meeting with Putin in 2017 in Hamburg that was also attended by then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

Tillerson had said at the time at a news conference after the two-hour meeting that Trump and Putin covered the war in Syria and other subjects.

USA officials were made aware of Trump concealing the notes when a White House adviser and a senior State Department official sought information from the translator other than information Tillerson had shared, the Washington Post reported.

The Washington Post report, published on Sunday, comes two days after the New York Times disclosed that the FBI had opened an investigation into Trump's relations with Russian Federation.

It said top officials in the State Department and National Security Council have been unable to learn the particulars of at least two meetings - one in Hamburg in July 2017 and the other in Helsinki in July 2018.

President Donald Trump repeatedly has taken extraordinary measures to hide the details of his face-to-face meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

However, sources tell the Times that two events raised alarm at the FBI that Trump had fired Comey in an attempt to stifle their investigation into possible Russian Federation election meddling.

Trump was asked about the report on Fox News Saturday night in an interview with Jeanine Pirro, and said he wasn't "keeping anything under wraps".

"Wow, just learned in the Failing New York Times that the corrupt former leaders of the FBI, nearly all fired or forced to leave the agency for some very bad reasons, opened up an investigation on me, for no reason & with no proof, after I fired Lyin' James Comey, a total sleaze!"

His offensive production and defensive framing ability convinced the Brewers to sign Grandal despite the cost of a draft pick. Because he declined the Dodgers' qualifying offer and signed elsewhere, they will now get a compensation draft pick in return.

"If you ask the folks in Russian Federation, I've been tougher on Russian Federation than anybody else, any other. probably any other president, period, but certainly the last three or four presidents".

Trump's detractors have taken this statement as proof that he fired Comey out of anger over the Russian Federation investigation.

"The liberal media has wasted two years trying to manufacture a fake collusion scandal instead of reporting the fact that unlike President Obama, who let Russian Federation and other foreign adversaries push America around, President Trump has actually been tough on Russian Federation", she said.

"My firing of James Comey was a great day for America", Trump said, describing the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director as "a Crooked Cop who is being totally protected by his best friend, Bob Mueller".

The investigation was subsequently folded into the broader probe by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into Russia's meddling in the 2016 election and possible collaboration by the Trump campaign.

The Times reported that FBI agents and some top officials became suspicious of Trump's ties to Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential campaign but didn't launch an investigation at that time because they weren't sure how to approach such a sensitive and important probe, according to the unnamed officials.

Trump's ex-national security adviser, Michael Flynn, pleaded guilty to lying to investigators about his Moscow ties.

The Trump administration "has imposed significant new sanctions in response to Russian malign activities", said the spokesman, who spoke on the condition of anonymity and noted that Tillerson in 2017 "gave a fulsome readout of the meeting immediately afterward to other United States officials in a private setting, as well as a readout to the press".

The Times says it's unclear whether Mueller is still pursuing the counterintelligence angle.
