It's not the only company in the mesh Wi-Fi space, as several firms, such as Ubiquiti, Netgear and Linksys offer similar routers. And if you were anxious about the long-term viability of a router that constantly turns to the cloud for network optimizations, the backing of a cloud computing giant should put those fears to rest.

"We are incredibly impressed with the eero team and how quickly they invented a WiFi solution that makes connected devices just work", says Dave Limp, SVP of Amazon Devices and Services, in a press release.

"Eero kicked off a wave of "smart" mesh router setups created to overcome the coverage issues and dead zones of traditional routers".

Amazon's move to step into the router market follows an initiative by its tech rival Google, which has been in the router market since 2015 with the launch of Onhub routers manufactured by TP-Link and ASUS.

One of the last truly standalone smart home products was Eero, a founder of the home mesh Wi-Fi system market. Google Wifi became the best-selling mesh technology Wi-Fi system in the USA in 2017. If you're a smart home device maker, you can certainly sell some door locks or light bulbs or a security system.

Eero's technology uses multiple access points that work together as a system to a blanket a home in high-performing, reliable, and simple home Wi-Fi. And it's all controlled with an intuitive smartphone app, The Verge reported. "The San Francisco startup raised nearly $100 million in venture capital from investors including Index Ventures, Initialized Capital and Menlo Ventures", the Wall Street Journal's Maria Armental informs us. This has led to a massive upgrade to mesh Wi-Fi networks. In the USA, mesh networking sales are expected to grow 88 percent from 2017 to 2019. By 2019, about half of every dollar spent in the consumer networking category will be on mesh Wi-Fi, according to reports.

For the DIY market, eero has a 4.6-star product rating on Amazon.com now.

Denver Broncos: Why Team Should Go CB In Round One
Without needing to use a first-round pick on a quarterback, the Broncos will likely address one of their other positions of need. Flacco remained Baltimore's starting quarterback at the beginning of the 2018 season before being sidelined with an injury.

Eero is excited to join Amazon. It has its Echo family of devices and Alexa virtual assistant leading the way, but it also has other services, such as Key by Amazon, and smart home-focused partnerships with the likes of Schlage, ADT and LG, as well as with home builders. The company offers both the devices for $299.

With its acquisition of Eero, Amazon is no longer just a purveyor of smart-home devices - it owns a part of the experience that's crucial to making them all work.

Tech giant Amazon has agreed to buy SF-based home WiFi specialist eero for an undisclosed amount.

The company has also received praise from integrators for its eero Pro line, which communicates over 2.4GHz and 5GHz, with Wi-Fi compatibility, and creates a single SSID network for the home.

What it hasn't done too much of is acquire its way into the smart home market, with the notable exception of its Ring acquisition about a year ago.

Eero has assured that it does not track users' internet activity and that the policy will not change with the Amazon deal.
