Andrew McCabe Reveals Congressional Leaders Were Briefed on FBI's Trump Probe
Former Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe says that he "absolutely" did not think having Rod Rosenstein wear a wire on Trump was a good idea when Rosenstein made the offer.
"It's been to endure the threats and taunts of the president in such a public way", he added.
The president wanted his 58.4 million followers to know his side, contending he only criticized Jill McCabe for accepting campaign donations from Bill and Hillary Clinton. McCabe has denied the allegations, described his firing as politically motivated and, in a series of interviews this week, has said he plans to sue the Justice Department over it.
Trump continued to tweet about McCabe all throughout the holiday weekend.
"The objective of the briefing was to let our congressional leadership know exactly what we'd been doing", McCabe told NBC's "Today" anchor Savannah Guthrie when she asked if he'd told members of Congress.
Surfer 'lucky to be alive after Great White attack' at Byron Bay
He started screaming, we didn't realise until we paddled back to the beach that there was a big chunk taken out of his leg. On Sunday a search was continuing for a veteran lifeguard who went missing in unsafe surf at Lighthouse Beach at Ballina.
McClintock agreed they should, but took it a step further and called on a special counsel investigation into the Department of Justice. "Not on legal grounds, not on constitutional grounds and not based on fact".
Trump spent hours over the holiday weekend and on Tuesday morning blasting the career Federal Bureau of Investigation man, whom he fired just hours before McCabe was eligible for his pension.
McCabe was sacked in March 2018 after the Department of Justice inspector general found that he disclosed classified information to the media without authorization. At the time, then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions said McCabe was terminated for "lacking candor under oath" with the Inspector General. The inspector general referred its findings to the US attorney for the District of Columbia previous year for possible prosecution, and prosecutors reportedly have convened a grand juryon the matter.
He explained that Trump, in the FBI's view, 'had gone to extreme measures to potentially impact, negatively impact - possibly turn off - our investigation of Russian meddling into the election and Russian coordination with his campaign'.
Mr McCabe told 60 Minutes the talks were held in 2017, and were about invoking a clause under the 25th Amendment that can remove a president if he were to be deemed unfit.
