Manchester United's Ashley Young and signed a one-year contract extension which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2019-20 season.

The 33-year-old England global, whose current deal was due to expire at the end of the campaign, has made 227 appearances for United in all competitions since his arrival from Aston Villa in 2011.

The England worldwide has won five trophies in his time with the Red Devils, including the Premier League in 2012-13 and the League Cup and Europa League double under former boss Jose Mourinho at the end of the 2016-17 campaign. During his time at Old Trafford, the Englishman has won the Premier League in 2012-13, the FA Cup in 2015-16, and the League Cup and UEFA Europa League in 2016-17.

"His attitude and his experience around the place is vital for us", Solskjaer told MUTV.

And while it is understandable that Solskjaer has kept Dalot protected by primarily using Young during his short reign, the Portuguese starlet must be given greater opportunity next season despite this latest contract extension.

Young is another player to have benefited from the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has started him at right-back in nine of his 11 games as caretaker manager.
