John Tavares scored in overtime to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 4-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night in a battle for second place in the Atlantic division.

Added Leafs goalie Frederik Andersen, who made 35 saves: "Over the last few days it was quite a build-up". That goal came 71 seconds after Brendan Gallagher gave Montreal the lead with Auston Matthews in the penalty box for delay of game.

Andersen made 25 saves in the December win over the Rangers and has won his last three starts against them.

Toronto is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 15-6 in their last 21 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 road games. However, Toronto is playing the much better hockey of the two teams and need to rack up wins as much as possible down the stretch and have to take advantage of situations where they're the better team.

He started walking, but eventually starting bouncing as he walked along the line, hopped, and spun around, appearing to dance. A Florida man's dancing skills, or lack thereof, were not able to get him out a DUI charge on Tuesday.

Montreal made it 2-2 when Tomas Tatar surprised Andersen glove-side with a seemingly harmless, floating shot at 1:13 of the second period after carrying the puck from deep in his own zone.

Henrik Lundqvist finished 30 saves on 31 shots but NY was not able to find an equalizer before Carolina tallied twice into an empty net in the final 75 seconds. Carey Price, with his first loss since January 10, made 28 saves. "It was fast and the game was played at a very high level".

"It was a good opportunity to get ahead of them". I think we all want to do the same, experience the same feelings and emotions. It wasn't the type of game that will make either coach very happy, as defence was optional through the majority of it, but it was a very entertaining showdown nonetheless.

Andreas Johnsson, Nikita Zaitsev and William Nylander also scored for the Maple Leafs (34-17-3), who extended their win streak to four games.

Lundqvist did not play in the first meeting between the teams and allowed 12 goals on 67 shots in two starts and three appearances against Toronto last season for a 7.06 goals-against average. He has been held to one goal in his last six matchups against Toronto.
