The Chiefs ended Patrick Mahomes' basketball career after seeing viral video

The Chiefs ended up falling short in the AFC Championship game but Mahomes more than proved himself as one of the best up and coming players in the league. Though if the most recent reports are true, they might be going a tad overboard.

A viral video of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes playing pickup basketball recently received a lot of attention - including in the Chiefs front office.

"We spoke to Pat Mahomes' agent and he said Chiefs Kingdom can be assured there will be no more basketball for Pat".

Where will Super Bowl 54 be played in 2020?
The video captures the many characteristics that make Miami - and the greater South Florida area - what it is. Super Bowl LIV will be played on February 2, 2020, in Miami Gardens, Florida at Hard Rock Stadium .

"We were laughing but ... the problem with Pat is he does everything 100 miles per hour and is so dang competitive", Veach said.

"Yes I did see the tweet of Pat Mahomes playing basketball", Veach told Sports Radio 810. We were able to nip that in the bud. If Mahomes wants to play sports, it has to be a violent, contact sport like football.

Mahomes - who obliterated the Chiefs' records for passing yards (5,097) and touchdowns (50) last season, becoming only the second QB to reach those plateaus in the same season (Peyton Manning, 2013) - took the advice in stride, according to Veach. However, his basketball exhibition had the Chiefs worrying about the possibility of a major injury. But at the same time, they should realize that they can't simply keep the 23-year-old quarterback in bubble wrap every off-season until he retires.
