Lewandowski: Time for Mueller to End '$40 Million Witch Hunt Against This President'

Since the investigation started in July 2017, Mueller has made not a single public comment about the findings. "We will take it to court if necessary".

Attorney General William Barr failed to make it clear during his confirmation hearings whether he would release the report to the public.

Schiff on Sunday stepped up his focus on Barr, saying that if the new attorney general withholds any part of the report, his legacy will be "tarnished".

"So I think there'll be enormous pressure not only on the department, but on the attorney general to be forthcoming", he said.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team told a USA judge on Saturday that President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort "repeatedly and brazenly" broke the law, and argued he did not deserve leniency at sentencing.

"We will obviously subpoena the report".

"We think he has a lot to offer", Schiff said.

"For over a decade, Manafort repeatedly and brazenly violated the law", Mueller's office said in a sentencing memorandum released by the court on Saturday.

The Democratic reps - who lead committees looking into Trump's finances and his ties to Russian Federation - also want Barr to submit to Congress any confidential aspects of the Mueller report that were deemed too sensitive for the public. He pointed to a public interest in seeing some of the underlying evidence, such as information gathered from searches conducted on longtime Trump adviser Roger Stone and Paul Manafort, a former Trump campaign chairman.

Like other Americans close to the president charged in the Mueller probe, Manafort hasn't been accused of involvement in Russian election interference.

However, he added that he thinks Barr will understand the importance of making the report public.

He lied, they noted, "to tax preparers, bookkeepers, banks, the Treasury Department, the Department of Justice National Security Division, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Special Counsel's Office, the grand jury, his own legal counsel, Members of Congress, and members of the executive branch of the United States government". In a letter Friday, Democrats warned against withholding information on Trump on the basis of department opinions that the president can't be indicted.

Mueller's report is expected in early March, but so far, it seems, may have little in the way of evidence that the Trump campaign is guilty of collusion, as a number of Democrats desire.

Democrats could use Mueller's findings as the basis of impeachment proceedings.

The report should be made public, and Congress should receive all the supporting material, said Senator Kamala Harris of California, a Democratic presidential candidate in 2020.

Schiff appeared on ABC's "This Week," and Blunt was on CBS' "Face the Nation".

Democrats have been critical of Barr - who was previously attorney general under President George H.W. Bush - noting that he sent an unsolicited memo to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in June describing the Mueller inquiry as "fatally misconceived".
