Edelman surprises bullied female QB with SB tickets

Rondeau is a huge New England Patriots fan who wears the number 11 in honor of receiver Julian Edelman, who used to play quarterback in college.

Dejah Rondeau is the starting quarterback of the Exeter Seahawks' seventh and eighth-grade team in Exeter, New Hampshire.

When the Patriots and Edelman heard she was being bullied at school for playing football, they invited her to Gillette Stadium, where she met Edelman and received a surprise gift from the Patriots wideout - tickets to Super Bowl LIII.

"Some people don't want to accept a female quarterback. She's worked really hard at it".

Playing catch with her friends solidified Rondeau's interest in being a quarterback specifically - the position she plays on her team. About going out there and having the challenge of dealing with adversity because people not accepting this and that.

She says she doesn't see the game in terms of gender, she just wants to be the best football player and teammate possible.

The musician is playing Birmingham on Tuesday, and is scheduled to play shows in London and Manchester this week. Amy Shark was en route from Brussels when the pair were found in the luggage compartment of the vehicle.

After Rondeau was given the tickets, she said she hadn't been expecting to go to the Super Bowl.

Speaking to the camera, Rondeau said, "That was insane, I was just really excited to go".

"That was insane", Dejah said after the surprise. "I never knew - I never thought that would ever happen".

The 13-year-old said her father's interest in football piqued her own, explaining, "So I really love the sport and I begged for years to be allowed to play".

The Patriots will take on the Rams on Sunday in Atlanta, with kickoff slated for 6:30 p.m. ET.
