Emma Thompson Exits Skydance Animation’s ‘Luck’ After John Lasseter’s Hiring

The Hollywood Reporter says Thompson has exited the project due to concerns with working with Lasseter.

Emma Thompson has withdrawn from her role as voice artist in Skydance Animation's feature film Luck, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This is the first high profile exit from Skydance in the wake of Lasseter's hiring (which reportedly did not go over well with some in Skydance Animation's unit), but it's likely not the last and could signal difficulty in casting upcoming projects. The disgraced former Pixar head was ousted from the animation studio he helped create when reports of sexual abuse allegations surfaced. And Skydance Animation, which is behind the movie "Luck", defended their decision to hire the animator.

The Guardian has contacted Thompson's representatives for confirmation and comment. Ellison told Skydance workers that Lasseter had promised to "comport himself" professionally.

Next Porsche Macan Will Be Fully Electric, Coming After 2020
Specific details are slim as of now, Porsche only confirming the Macan will have 800-volt charging technology. Production of the electric Macan "will begin early in the next decade" at a plant in Germany, Porsche said.

The 59-year-old actress will no longer be working on the film as she is "concerned" about working with Lasseter, 62, who has become the new head of Skydance Animation following his departure as the Chief Creative Officer of Pixar and Disney Animation after acknowledging "missteps" in his behavior with employees.

Lasseter's appointment to Skydance was met with considerable disquiet, including a statement from the Time's Up campaign that said "Skydance ... is providing another position of power, prominence and privilege to a man who has repeatedly been accused of sexual harassment in the workplace". The film is being directed by "Kung Fu Panda 3" co-director Alessandro Carloni. He began his leave of absence in November 2017, after multiple women claimed they were harassed and inappropriately touched by him. No full voice cast has been announced.
