Instead of engaging, the senator brushed aside their concerns.

California Senator Diane Feinstein's condescending reaction to a group of schoolchildren brought into her office to plead for her support for the Green New Deal is going viral, provoking an apology and a climate bill of her own.

"Okay, I'll tell you what". The Green New Deal, championed by Democrats Sen.

"Well the reason why I can't is because there's no way to pay for it", Feinstein responded. An adult accompanying the children interjected to the senator that the kids will be living with the consequences if it's not turned around in 10 years. "I have been and remain committed to doing everything I can to enact real, meaningful climate change legislation", Feinstein said. Oh it's vague. Oh it doesn't address this little minute thing.' And I'm like, 'You try.

"Unfortunately, it was a brief meeting but I want the children to know they were heard loud and clear", she said. I know what I'm doing.

The senator is heard saying to them, "You know what's interesting about this group?"

Across the globe, teenage activists are picking up the mantle of climate change, from the Swedish 16-year-old Greta Thunberg - who told an audience at Davos that "our house is on fire" - to the 21 young Americans suing the federal government for violating their due process rights by knowing about the dangers of climate change for decades, but doing nothing about it.

Soon afterward, people who appear to be Feinstein's aides hustle the children out of her office.

"How old are you?"

"That resolution will not pass the Senate, and you can take that back to whoever sent you here and tell them", Feinstein responded after the students insisted the legislation was badly needed.

"We're going to be the ones who are impacted!" shouted another girl.

Zuckerman said Saturday the group didn't have an appointment with Feinstein. "I have seven grandchildren".

"Until then, we're in charge - and you're just shouting from the cheap seats", she said. "In the meantime I just won a big election".

But the senator's supporters point to the full version of the video, in which Feinstein says she might vote in favor of Ocasio-Cortez's resolution, which offers an ambitious and costly master-plan for environmental, economic, and social transformation.

This is a fight for our generation's survival.

Ocasio-Cortez unveiled her solution to climate change, the Green New Deal, which would mobilize the entire USA economy to ensure that 100 percent renewable energy would be produced and Carbon dioxide emissions would be greatly reduced.

It is entirely possible that Feinstein is working on a feasible alternative.
