Washington State's Robert Franks followed up his career-high 34-point effort at Arizona State on Thursday with another 34 points in a 69-55 win Saturday over Arizona in a Pac-12 basketball game at Tucson, Ariz. On Thursday, they went to Arizona and beat the team that seems to win this league every year; perhaps a changing of the guard taking place.

Franks should be a safe bet for Pac-12 player of the week and Washington State is nobody's pushover if the Cougars can match these types of performances, beginning with a home game next week against Pac-12 leader Washington.

The Sun Devils kept making shots to open the second half and Huskies kept missing. The Sun Devils were much better defensively, too, holding the Huskies without a field goal for almost eight minutes and 3-of-16 shooting from 3 in the first half. I am sure most fans on both ends figured it would be a close game all the way but it wasn't meant to be.

Arizona State's only first-half problem: turnovers.

"Some of it was childish on my part, a little bit frustrated with our ability to make shots on Thursday night", Hurley said. The Sun Devils led at half-time 34-26. The Huskies sputtered through most of the road trip's second game, leaving coach Mike Hopkins searching for anything to spark his team. However, Elleby knocked down a pair of free throws to return the lead to double digits. Partner that with his foul trouble and he was in for a short night. Their last seven opponents have been under 70 points and they'll be in a great position to win if they can make that eight games. David Crisp in particular had a rough night, going 4-14 on three-point attempts.

Cards may play Cubs in London next season
The other pair in contention for the privilege to play across the pond would be the New York Mets and the Washington Nationals . Louis Cardinals is reportedly one of two possible matchups that remain in consideration for the London Series in 2020.

Washington struggled mightily from the three-point line. Jaylen Nowell contributed 15 points, going five of thirteen including three of six behind the arc.

Cheatham also committed six turnovers, but he was a big reason why Arizona State shot 61.7 percent from the field, outscored UW 42-20 in the paint and won the rebound battle 40-23. Freshmen guard Luguentz Dort was second with 15. CJ Elleby almost had a triple-double for Washington State in that one with 10 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. He was the energizer bunny for the Sun Devils.

Washington State: hosts arch-rival Washington next Saturday. The long week off should help rejuvenate an ailing Huskies team.

Arizona State's NCAA Tournament resume took a hit against Washington State, which had the Pac-12's second-worst record.
