Group of 325 Central Americans surrendered to BP agents west of Lukeville

So far this year, Customs and Border Protection says agents have apprehended three groups totaling more than 650 people in that part of the desert, between Yuma and Nogales.

The group told border patrol agents they were dropped off the night before by trucks roughly 50 yards from where they were found.

The statement said that the group included two juveniles who needed hospital treatment.

Six Nations: Ireland earn hard-fought 22-13 victory over Scotland
Ireland claimed their first victory of the 2019 Six Nations on Saturday after a brilliant 22-13 victory over Scotland . We should be able to fix those in France .

The large group entered the country illegally in an area where there is only a vehicle barrier created to prevent crossings, the release said.

New government figures released Friday show that the U.S. Border Patrol arrested or denied entry to 58,207 individuals in January 2019, a 4 percent decrease from 60,779 in December 2018.

The January numbers are unlikely to swing public opinion either way in President Trump's showdown with Democratic leaders in Congress over funding to replace and extend border walls with Mexico. Yet it is still a 62 percent increase from a year ago when 35,905 people were arrested or denied entry. The impasse led to a five-week partial government shutdown that ended when Trump agreed to reopen the government until February 15. Customs and Border Protection says medical attention was needed about 12,000 times for border crossers in the 12-month period ending September 30. Almost 150 of them were minors, 32 of whom were not accompanied by an adult.
