Gwyneth Paltrow is fighting back against a man who is accusing her of crashing into him and causing him serious injuries while skiing on a Utah mountain in 2016.

Paltrow, 46, seeks a symbolic $1 in damages from Terry Sanderson, 72, who sued her last month for $3.1 million in Summit County District Court in Utah over the February 26, 2016, incident at Deer Valley Resort in Park City. Paltrow said she was shaken by the collision and quit skiing for the day.

The "Shakespeare in Love" actress has previously denied Sanderson's initial claim that she was to blame for the crash but had not provided her version of events until now.

"She did not knock him down", Paltrow's court filing said. "He was not knocked out".

Celebrity website TMZ reports that Paltrow is seeking $1, and if she wins the case and receives more than this amount she will donate it to charity.

The Goop founder also alleged that Sanderson's friend said that he acted the same after the incident as he did before the crash.

Shares in American retail giant Walmart ( WMT ), which owns Asda , were not making any big moves in premarket trading. The CMA's current view is that it is likely to be hard for the companies to address the concerns it has identified.

Sanderson announced his lawsuit against Paltrow at a news conference last month in Salt Lake City, saying that he was skiing on a novice slope when he heard a "hysterical scream" from behind before he was struck between the shoulder blades by the actress. Sanderson referred to it as a "hit and run" and is seeking $3.1 million in damages.

Sanderson, a retired Salt Lake City optometrist, told reporters on the day he sued that he waited to file the lawsuit for almost three years because he had problems with attorneys and could not function properly because of the concussion.

"Paltrow clearly hit Dr. Sanderson from behind". She sustained a full 'body blow.' Ms. Paltrow was angry with Plaintiff, and said so.

A representative for Deer Valley told CNN they "will not comment on any pending legal matters of the resort or our guests".

Paltrow, 46, also alleged that Sanderson, 69, "had told his doctor about one year earlier that he was blind in his right eye, and that his vision in his left eye was decreasing".
