Joe Flacco Headed to Denver After Ravens and Broncos Agree to Deal

Former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco could be donning a Broncos jersey next season.

It's possible this trade doesn't impact Green Bay's draft, but with quarterback no longer a need for Denver, it could result in one of Brian Gutekunst's top targets no longer being available at No. 12. Flacco signed a contract extension with Baltimore's cap-strapped front office in 2016, which added money to the deal and included a $40 million signing bonus for the veteran.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Whenever John Elway talks about a deal, a contract, a player or most anything that crosses his desk for the Denver Broncos, two words nearly always sum up his feelings about doing, or not doing, any of it. "Unfortunately, Joe Flacco is no Peyton Manning". Will Flacco be able to help Denver return to the postseason? The Broncos, who fired Vance Joseph at the end of the season, hired Vic Fangio as their new coach. And while it might be the fix the Broncos want in 2019, quarterback still remains their biggest question mark beyond that.

The move ends likely ends Keenum's time as the Broncos starting quarterback after a forgettable 2018 campaign. And in the coming weeks and months the Broncos could try to trade Keenum, release him or, yes, keep him. So has the majority of the National Football League community - and with good reason. However, it's unlikely that Denver's front office views Flacco as the team's long-term answer at quarterback, due to the 34-year-old's age and lack of success in recent seasons. Flacco might be an upgrade over Keenum (key word: might), but if he is, it's a marginal upgrade at best - one that required them to give up draft ammunition.
