Former great Indianapolis Colts running back Edgerrin James on Saturday was not among those selected for induction for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2019.

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and former Cowboys vice president of player personnel Gil Brandt were elected as contributors. Cornerback Ty Law and center Kevin Mawae were also voted into the Hall of Fame on the modern-era ballot. Those eight individuals will be enshrined in Canton, Ohio, on August 3. Of the 22 finalists who have been a finalist six times, Lynch is the only one of those individuals who has not been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

He is the fourth player drafted by the Seahawks to make the Hall of Fame, the others being Walter Jones, Cortez Kennedy and Kenny Easley, all of whom spent their entire careers with Seattle before being named to the Hall.

Lynch, who starred for the Bucs (1993-2003) and Broncos (2004-07) and is now general manager of the 49ers, was denied for a sixth straight year in the final 15. Like past year he was again one of the 10 finalists from the initial group of 15 modern-era finalists, but then did not make it to the final five.

Atwater has been a finalist two times.

Sergio Garcia speaks out after Saudi International disqualification

Robinson recorded 57 interceptions in his 12-year career with the Dallas Texans and Kansas City of the AFL.

Bowlen joined those ranks after three-plus decades of contributions to the National Football League and the Broncos.

The longest discussion of the modern-era candidates was for Law (27:16), followed by offensive tackle Tony Boselli (26:10), Mawae (24:52) and coach Don Coryell (22:37).

Also Saturday, rookie linebacker Shaquem Griffin won the NFL's Game Changer Award, given to "a member of the football family who has positively contributed to the sport and his or her community". The shortest discussion was for Reed (2:20).

Pat Bowlen and Champ Bailey are Pro Football Hall of Famers. For ten years, he did his part to make sure that the wide receivers he covered had no answer for him.
