John Wall will miss 12 months after slip and fall at home

Washington Wizards star John Wall ruptures Achilles tendon in slip and fall

Wall, 28, was already out for the rest of this season after undergoing surgery to remove bone spurs from his left heel on January 8. The Wizards' Director of Medical Services and Orthopedist Dr. Wiemi Douoguih diagnosed the rupture during the procedure to clean out the infection.

Without the 28-year-old Wall, the playoffs will likely remain a dream this season, and now that he will miss more than half of next year, the Wizards' next season could be dead before it even begins.

The procedure has not yet been scheduled and will be done in Green Bay, Wisconsin, by Dr. Robert Anderson. The Washington Wizards star has been out of the lineup since December 26th with an injury to his Achilles that he actually sustained after slipping at home. It was determined it was suffered during a fall at home. He will now have an operation on his achilles and is not expected to return to action until at least a year after the surgery.

Wall was limited to 41 games last season, mostly because of surgery on his left knee.

As already seen, that's never a guarantee.

Back in 2017, the All-Star point guard signed a four-year, $170 million contract extension that is set to kick in next season. It increases to a $46.9 million option in the fourth year.

A five-time NBA All-Star, Wall averaged 20.7 points, 8.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 32 games this season for the Wizards. Washington now sits at a record of 22-31 and are two games out of a playoff spot.
