Lazar Markovic completes permanent move to Fulham

Liverpool have finally got Lazar Markovic off their hands as Fulham have signed the winger on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old has departed the Reds for Craven Cottage, bringing his four-and-a-half-year spell with the club to an end.

Markovic has signed a short-term deal with the Cottagers, putting pen to paper on a contract which will keep him at the club until the end of the season.

Relegation-threatened Fulham revealed that they received a positive recommendation from Markovic's Serbian compatriot Aleksandar Mitrovic before making a move for the winger.

Markovic has not played for Liverpool since May 2015 and has been loaned out to Fenerbache, Sporting, Hull City and Anderlecht since his last appearance.

Everyone at LFC wishes Lazar all the best at his new club.

"Markovic made his breakthrough at Partizan Belgrade where he was a teammate of Mitrović and named in the SuperLiga team of the season in each of his two full - and title-winning - campaigns in the first team".

Markovic had been banished to train with the Liverpool under-23s at the Kirkby Academy since he rejected a move to Anderlecht last August.

Liverpool had thrashed out a £2.9million deadline day deal with the Belgium outfit, as well as a 50% sell-on clause, but he failed to agree personal terms.
