Jeremy Lin gets bought out plans to sign with Raptors

"Hyped to join the Raptors!". The Raptors would be the eighth National Basketball Association team Lin has played for in his career, which includes stops with the Warriors, Knicks, Rockets, Lakers, Hornets, Nets, and Hawks. But with some playoff experience (17 games) to offer, along with double-digit scoring off the bench, Lin is sure to quickly become a fan favorite in Toronto. An expiring contract brought a fair amount of rumored interest as last week's trade deadline approached, and the Hawks' initially reported stance on not doing a buyout seemingly shifted with a potential push from Lin's representation.

Hours after the initial report of the pending move, the Raptors announced point guard Fred VanVleet will miss at least three weeks with a thumb injury.

The three week minimum timeline likely sidelines him for the entirety of the six-game homestand for the Raptors that begins Monday night against Brooklyn. He fits the style of play I think Nick wants to play. Everyone competes in this league, but I think there is a pocket of guys that go above and beyond that. VanVleet is averaging 10.5 points, 4.6 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 26.8 minutes in 51 games (22 starts) this season.
