Social media users had a field day in response to the irreverent marketing.

The supermarket is celebrating love by launching one of the UK's most colourful flowers - the Rainbow Rose.

The Marks and Spencer "Love Sausage", as it has been marketed, comes wrapped in bacon and in a heart formation - flawless for serving eggs in the middle of.

While the retailer urged customers to share their posts using the hashtag #LoveSausage, shoppers were more interested in making jokes about they meaty treat.

Other hilarious responses included: "I think someone's sausage needs medical attention" while another read: 'Love sausage you kinky minx!'

Dingell was a champion of the auto industry and was credited with increasing access to health care, among other accomplishments. The former congressman was first elected to the House in 1955, a seat formerly held by his father, John Dingell, Sr.
