Israeli police capture Palestinian suspect for brutal murder of Israeli teen

His hands and feet in shackles, Irfaiya was escorted by Israeli policemen into a Jerusalem court packed with photographers on Monday, an AFP journalist said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Ansbacher's parents on Sunday at the Israeli settlement of Tekoa in the West Bank, a territory occupied by Israel for more than 50 years.

The Shin Bet issued a statement Sunday saying that after questioning Palestinian suspect Arafat Erfaiyeh, the agency believed Ori Ansbacher's killing was "nationalistic".

May responded that she wanted negotiations "settled before Christmas" and said the best way to end uncertainty was "with a deal".

Following the murder of 19-year-old Israeli Ori Ansbacher, Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon called for an urgent meeting with the president of the U.N. Security Council, Anatolio Ndong Mba of Equatorial Guinea. Israel's Shin Bet security agency says the killing was politically motivated.

The Israeli paper also reported that Erfaiyeh had been arrested in 2017 for walking to the entrance of Temple Mount armed with a large blade. Arafat allegedly found Ansbacher in the Ein Yael nature area outside of Jerusalem, where the teen's body was found on Thursday with stab wounds.

The remainder of the investigation remains under a gag order. Israeli media say the court ordered Erfaiyeh, 29, to be remanded for an additional 10 days.

"In my name and on behalf of the people of Israel, I wish to express my condolences to the Ansbacher family and to strengthen them with their great grief", the prime minister said.
