Marcus Rashford recovering from injury in time for Manchester United's trip to Crystal Palace would be a "surprise", says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rashford completed the full 90 minutes as United and Liverpool played out a goalless draw on Sunday afternoon, but the England worldwide carried an ankle problem for the majority of the game. His ankle is like a balloon, so it was a fantastic attitude by him.

United travel to in-form Crystal Palace in midweek having surrendered fourth spot after Arsenal capitalised on a rare slip and beat Southampton 2-0 at the Emirates.

Solskjaer, speaking at his post-match news conference said: "I haven't seen him after the game or after he had treatment". His ankle blew up straight away but he wanted to run it off.

Jurgen Klopp's side returned to the top of the table but their manager rued a missed opportunity after their opponents were forced to make three changes during an injury-interrupted first half. United's striker carried on, but looked set to be taken off before first-half injuries to Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and then the latter's replacement Jesse Lingard meant Rashford had to continue for the duration. He offered no update on their fitness, though.

"We've lost a few with some muscle injuries and hamstrings, but we've got some good kids coming through", Solskjaer added. "Luckily we've got two days recovery!"
