Chaos broke out during a performance of the musical "Hamilton" at San Francisco's Orpheum theater after audience members mistook a medical emergency for a shooting.

One person broke their leg and two others suffered injuries and were taken to hospital.

The incident happened at the SHN Orpheum Theatre when a woman suffered a medical emergency at about 10 p.m. San Francisco police said the woman collapsed at the same time as a scene on stage involving gunfire and audience members apparently though the woman might have been shot. In order to save her life, a defibrillator was pulled off a wall at the theater which triggered a fire alarm.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, all four were sent to the hospital.

The woman who suffered the medical emergency was revived and was in critical condition Friday night, according to the fire department.

The cast returned, prompting a round of applause, but the play did not resume.

Iran Blasts US Efforts to Turn Europe against Nuclear Deal
Zarif said the US had an "unhealthy" and "pathological obsession" with Iran and accused Pence of trying to bully his allies. Pence's speech focused largely on the idea of " America first , not America alone".

"Uncertainty in the auditorium about a medical emergency taking place near the end of the show spread quickly and prompted the upset", SHN posted on Twitter.

Cast members also had to evacuate and the production did not continue.

"Hamilton's" engagement at the Orpheum runs through September 8.

Many patrons criticized the lack of protocol and assistance during the incident.

Laura Lasnier was there with her two children, ages 6 and 9. And thank you for acknowledging that this was an 'un-organized rapid exit.' We received absolutely no support, guidance, or information from any Orpheum staff.
