"Dolly Parton has always been and continues to be a courageous trailblazer and indomitable inspiration for creators and artists - so for us to have the opportunity to honor her at our annual MusiCares Person of the Year gala is to pay tribute to a true pillar of strength and someone who we all look up to and cherish", Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow said. Miley Cyrus, Parton's goddaughter, sang "Islands In The Stream" as a duet with Shawn Mendes with Mark Ronson supporting them on electric guitar. "We love you, Dolly", Perry said at the end of the performance.

As we warm up this weekend's Grammy awards host of stars from across the world of music have gathered to pay tribute to eight-item Grammy victor Dolly Parton.

Parton, whose career began with appearances at the age of 10 on radio stations in her native Tennessee, began her speech with a joke that made light of her backcountry roots. "We want to be like you when we grow up". "We may not have sex, drugs and rock "n" roll, but two out of three ain't bad".

Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves previously teamed up to cover Parton's "Here You Come Again" on an episode of CMT Crossroads in 2014, and last night, they did it again. Katy Perry gave a heartfelt announcement after the song.

They then pretty much confirmed they were working on a Dolly tribute when they uploaded a picture together wearing matching Dolly Parton leather jackets.
