Mobile will support Sprint’s 1Million Project if merger gets approval

T-Mobile tells FCC that if Sprint deal closes, prices won't rise for at least three years

Those are the words from T-Mobile CEO John Legere, who is well known for uttering bold statements. Opponents of the deal allege that consumers would be worse off if it goes through.

T-Mobile has said that, if its merger with Sprint is approved, it'll continue supporting the 1Million Project.

In a separate letter from the Law firm overseeing the merger, it is described that legacy rate plans would remain in effect for the same three year period, unless a better plan with a lower price or more data becomes available. "Rather, our merger will ensure that American consumers will pay less and get more".

In the latest discussions, the T-Mobile/Sprint merger is said to complete its course as soon as the current quarter ending on March 31. Both carriers expect the deal to close sometime in the first half of this year.

Chelsea target Philippe Coutinho to replace Eden Hazard
A quote from Hazard recently hit the headlines, with the attacker telling French TV station RMC : "I know what I am going to do". He could add to his medal haul at Stamford Bridge on Sunday when Chelsea face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

In a letter to the FCC, T-Mobile Chief Executive John Legere asked the government to move forward "expeditiously" in reviewing the merger of the No. 3 and No. 4 wireless carriers, and attempted to allay fears the deal would mean higher prices. My management team and I can make this personal commitment because we believe in delivering on our promises, and we know if we do not, we will lose credibility and the trust of our customers.

Legere did tell the FCC that the combined company might have to raise the taxes, fees and surcharges on its wireless plans.

Although the letter seems reassuring on the surface, the condition related to cost increase that it states has not gone down well with opponents, particularly the 4Competition, a coalition which was formed to convince the authorities to block the merger. The next two hurdles to cross are clearances from the Department of Justice and FCC. On the other hand, AT&T and Verizon have 153 million and 118 million customers, respectively, and Sprint reported a figure of 54 million. The mobile operator has said the merger will help it roll out its 5G network and better serve rural parts of the US.
