Jose Mourinho says he has 'real respect' for Arsene Wenger

The 2 had many heated exchanges over the years, with the pinnacle of the battle coming when Wenger pushed Mourinho on the touchline, and the latter calling the former "a specialist in failure".

The Frenchman followed the likes of Pele, Johan Cruyff and Bobby Charlton in receiving the prize and was recognised for his success with Arsenal during his 22-year tenure in north London.

The pair (Mourinho and Wenger) are among the Premier League's most celebrated managers boasting several domestic honours.

Speaking about Kante at the Laureus Awards on Monday night, Wenger said: "Phenomenal".

"There were some episodes along the road", Mourinho said on a video message. I really enjoyed the competition.

"But the real respect is always there".

Wenger was in charge of Arsenal last February when the Gunners opted to make him the highest-paid player at the club with a new contract in February 2018. The nickname is there - the 'Invincibles.' Amazing.

Organizer Jason Corbeil said demonstrations would be held on the lawn of Parliament between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The rally is expected to occupy nearly a kilometre of Wellington Street, in front of Parliament.

"Amazing. A coaching philosophy, the nearly ideal team".

While that happened with Wenger at the helm with the belief the German would be one of team's stars going forward, Ozil's place in the team has changed under new Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

It's good to see that now their intense Premier League rivalry is over, Mourinho has held out an olive branch to his colleague.

"An even bigger surprise is usually the lifetime achievement award goes to a Pele, a Maradona or a Beckenbauer".

"But that doesn't necessarily mean that they practise, they play their best".

Arsene Wenger would be a "great" replacement for Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea should they decide to sack the Italian, according to former England and Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman. They did not get them.
