Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé is retiring

Nintendo of America's president and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime, who has led the company for the past 13 years and become a well-known and liked figure among Nintendo's fans in the U.S., is to retire in April, the company has announced. He will be succeeded by Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America's current Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

"I wanted to reach out directly to you, the Nintendo community, because there's one thing I really want to say: thank you", Fils-Aime said in the video. He noted that he is "departing in both good health and good humor" and described his departure as "leveling up" to spend more time with his family and friends.

With nearly 13 years under his belt as President and COO, Reggie has become something of a household name with gamers across the world and has led Nintendo of America through many important transitions throughout the years.

Furukawa also said that Dowg Bowser is an "able successor" and they believe Nintendo will continue in "a good shape with strong momentum".

We doubt The Regginator reads Push Square (for obvious reasons, ahem), but we're still gonna take this opportunity to wish him all the best in his retirement. He is set to be replaced as President by Doug Bowser in April 2019 after his last day.

LeBron's Career Faces a Tipping Point If Anthony Davis Doesn't Join Lakers
Las Vegas oddsmakers believe LeBron James' 13-year postseason streak could be in serious jeopardy with the Los Angeles Lakers . James would have to fork over a pretty penny in order to make this happen.

It's the end of an era over at Nintendo of America today, or at least it will be soon.

For years, Reggie Fils-Aime was the face of Nintendo of America. Reggie's willingness to be a little silly and have fun with his job won the affection of many in his time at Nintendo.

He was particularly well known for his on-stage, and later on-video, appearances for the company to spell out what fans of Nintendo would be seeing in the near and distant future.

Bowser joined the company as its vice president of sales in 2015.

"It has been my great fortune to work with and be mentored by Reggie for four years at Nintendo of America", Mr. Bowser said in a press release from Nintendo. In 2016, he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Bowser previously worked as vice president of global business planning for Electronic Arts. Fils-Aime worked with Nintendo of America (NOA) for 15 years, 13 of which were served as its President and COO.
