Virginia (20-1, 8-1) was led by a trio of student-athletes in double figures, including De'Andre Hunter (14 points), Mamadi Diakite (11 points) and Kyle Guy (10 points). The UVA offense seemed a tad out of sync for much of the contest without Jerome, but out-hustled the struggling, shorthanded Hurricanes (9-12, 1-8). The Hurricanes entered averaging 74.4 points per game, and, Bennett said, "missed an very bad lot of wide-open looks".

The Hurricanes wasted little time setting the tone against the Cavaliers, with Mykea Gray converting on a 3-point play four seconds into the game, which Miami led from start to finish. We were fortunate in that regard, but there were enough good looks defensively and at times we were fumbling around and struggling.

Trailing 11-9 early on, the 'Hoos went on an 11-1 run capped by a strong take through traffic by Guy. Miami shot just 28 percent and was outrebounded 25-11.

Miami got eight points from Lykes including a 3-pointer to end the half and cut the deficit to seven.

The Cavaliers lead the nation in scoring defense at 53.1 points per game. He has made a three-pointer in every game this season.

The Cavaliers outrebounded Miami 42-24 and despite committing 14 turnovers allowed the Hurricanes to score just four points off of those miscues.

"I think that we had a hard time finding the balance of running our stuff hard and trusting the offense to produce a quality shot that we got to being where we have to force the action".

The Cavaliers, meantime, weathered early miscues without Jerome, who averages 13 points and almost five assists, to build a 28-21 lead at halftime despite six turnovers, including four from Clark.

After coming up short in a tough game against rival Florida State late last week, the Hurricanes women's basketball team came into its Sunday afternoon game aginst Virginia knowing it needed to bounce back in a big way - especially considering the opponents that still loom on the schedule.

Junior forward Mamadi Diakite has eleven blocked shots over his last three games.

Hunter paced UVA with 14 points to go with his 6 rebounds, 2 steals and a block.

"I am just trying to have fun there", Diakite said. I just like having fun, blocking shots. And, with Jerome on the bench directing him, Clark acquitted himself nicely, scoring nine points, dishing out six assists and pulling down five rebounds. "There's a balance. You've still got to stay assertive, but we were unsound, and of course Ty helps us with that". Braxton Key added two blocks and Hunter had one for the Cavaliers.

ESPN announced that the College GameDay crew will return to JPJ Saturday morning ahead of the huge rematch with the Blue Devils, which will tip off at 6 p.m.
