Now Virginia GOP leader has blackface problem

It's also worth noting that Norment is not in the line of succession to the Governorship, but the fact that these revelations are continuing is just adding to the chaos that is enveloping Richmond even as the legislature tries to get its job done, a job which includes getting a budget for the new Fiscal Year, which begins July 1st on the calendar Virginia works under, and this isn't going to make it any easier.

The N-word is used at least once. In one photo of a student from Thailand, the young man is referred to as "Jap" and "Chink", with another referred to as "The China Man". Under another student's" photograph, the caption reads: "He was known as the "Barracks Jew' having his fingers in the finances of the entire Corps". The senator was going into a Republican Caucus meeting and told them that he was there "to pass a budget".

Hours later, he said in a statement issued by a spokesman: "The use of blackface is abhorrent in our society and I emphatically condemn it".

The Republican was first elected to the Virginia Senate in 1992 and now serves as majority leader. Norment received his bachelor's degree at the Virginia Military Institute before earning a law degree at William & Mary.

This discovery comes as Gov. Ralph Northam and Attorney General Mark Herring face calls to resign due to blackface controversies of their own.

Thai Raksa Chart Party members reveal Princess Ubolratana Mahidol as their nominee for prime minister Friday morning at the Election Commission headquarters.

While saying they were "shocked and saddened" to learn of Herring's past, the USA lawmakers described him as having "earnestly reached out to each of us to apologize and express his deep remorse" and said he was holding "in-depth discussions with leaders and others in Virginia". Among the pictures on Northam's page is one in which a man in blackface is standing next to another in a Ku Klux Klan costume. Northam has denied being in the photo, and has thus far refused to step down. Herring acknowledged the incident, writing in a statement that "when I was a 19-year-old undergraduate in college, some friends suggested we attend a party dressed like the rappers we listened to at the time, like Kurtis Blow".

Fairfax, 39, noncommittal about whether Northam, 59, should resign, stands accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a Boston hotel room in 2004.

No sooner was the spotlight put on Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax - first in line to succeed Northam and who would become only the second African-American to lead the state - then Fairfax himself came under a cloud.

"I wish her no harm or humiliation, nor do I seek to denigrate her or diminish her voice. But I can not agree with a description of events that I know is not true", Fairfax wrote in a statement.

Trump, who previously called for Northam's resignation, commented on the widening scandal again on Twitter.
