Pep Guardiola wasn't best pleased when he found out Benjamin Mendy was in Hong Kong, and the Frenchman has hilariously responded.

He came on as a substitute during City's recent Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Burton Albion but has since suffered a setback in his recovery.

Questioned further on whether he would be alright with Mendy making such a long trip, he said: "No, definitely not".

"Mendy has a lot of things to improve and hopefully we can convince him to forget a little bit the social media and improve a few things", Guardiola said, per The Guardian. I didn't know it, f*ck he's a lucky guy.

Pep Guardiola was lost for words when he was informed in his press conference on Friday, exclaiming: 'In Hong Kong? "[It's not okay to be in] Hong Kong, definitely not".

In Mendy's absence, City reclaimed top spot on the Premier League in midweek with a 2-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park. He needs to readapt.

"Before, he said I'm going for a day to Paris", Guardiola explained. You have to be careful'. Guardiola said this was because De Bruyne is still being eased back following injury: "It's quite possible [he might not start]".

Guardiola added that he thought Mendy was in Spain receiving treatment. He responded, "No". But then suggested he may not actually be in Hong Kong.

Social media funnyman Benjamin Mendy (also a professional footballer) appeared to have been in hot water with his manager for a short while on Friday.
