Mauricio Pochettino and Mike Dean clashed on the pitch after Saturday's game at Burnley

The Spurs boss has since been served with a Football Association charge for improper conduct despite making a public apology to Dean today when he confirmed that he wouldn't contest the allegations.

Dean has been moved from his fourth official duties for Spurs' game at Chelsea (20:00 GMT). I feel sorry for that [Dean being dropped] because I wanted to see him and apologise in person.

Pochettino went on to say that Dean was "one of the best referees" but refused to reveal what Dean had said to him in the aftermath of Saturday's flashpoint. (To apologise) in private is not important because it was in public my behaviour and I need to apologise to him and the officials too.

"All that happened on the pitch I think must [stay] there", he said.

"When your heart rate is so high, you have to be careful when talking". I still believe I am right but the way I behaved was not right.

'I put my toes in the line but always it was respectful.

Mike Bibby Accused of Sexual Assault by High School Teacher
He retired from the National Basketball Association in 2012 and began coaching for Shadow Mountain as an assistant coach in 2013. Harris denied the allegations, saying Bibby "did not participate in a sexual assault of any way, shape or form".

And Pochettino is in no doubt his side will be in the right frame of mind for that encounter - which is part of Tottenham's overall problem. For me, all the referees are really good and I never had a problem.

Pochettino had hoped to have the opportunity to apologise to Dean in person at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday when Tottenham visit Chelsea.

"If you want to be a real contender, playing well or not, it's (the game against Burnley) a must-win", Pochettino said.

"He's doing well but we can not say if he's going to be available for the weekend, or for the next week or the games against Borussia Dortmund or Southampton", said Pochettino.

"Only you can change the emotion and feeling if you are capable tomorrow of showing everyone that it was an accident and we are capable of beating Chelsea".
