Pochettino charged after Mike Dean row

Spurs remain five points behind leaders Manchester City and Liverpool but missed a chance to put some real pressure on the top two.

The Spurs boss became engaged in a lengthy and heated exchange with referee Mike Dean after the full-time whistle at Turf Moor.

The Spurs chief responded "you know what", to Dean, before appearing to walk away, hinting at his displeasure with the corner awarded that led to Burnley's first goal. "We made some mistakes on the pitch and I made some mistakes afterwards on the pitch".

He said: "I will accept everything that can happen from the Football Association but I hope they won't go any further".

"I'm not going to talk too much".

"But at the end, because of the emotions, everyone was nervous, sometimes we find answers, excuses, and try to justify the defeat".

Pochettino apologised for his behaviour in his post-match press conference, telling reporters: "It's weird, maybe the cables crossed in my brain".

Fury more popular than Joshua, claims Miller
You've got to go balls to wall, if I ever doubted myself I wouldn't have made it so far. "New York was ten out of ten, no lie". Miller, also undefeated and with a record of 24 fights (23 wins and a draw), said he planned to stop Joshua in seven rounds.

He added: "It's not how I normally behave, maybe because I knew very well before and after the game, when we lost, that it is going to be hard to be a real contender".

"We're finding ways to win once again, and there's a lot to be really pleased about, there;s some really good stuff, and the little in between things that we're doing really well, that we weren't doing as well early season, all the little details".

With today's United-Liverpool clash and the Man City-Chelsea League Cup final dominating the weekend's programme, Pochettino had seen victory over Burnley as imperative to his side's hopes of maintaining a title challenge.

"For me this was the big game", he added. It is not about tactics, or selection.

"We were effective", Sean Dyche said after Burnley extended their unbeaten run to eight matches. The game then had to be halted for a couple of minutes in injury time when the water sprinklers popped out of the ground, soaking the players and the grass. We scored and then we conceded.

Spurs didn't look much like title contenders and were short of inspiration when tasked with breaking down Burnley's dogged defence.

"We need to defend better, we need to play better in possession to improve our quality".
