Pokemon Direct SHOCK: Nintendo Direct live stream date and time REVEALED

With the annual Pokemon Day celebrations about to take place worldwide, Nintendo has announced plans to hold a special Pokemon Direct presentation for Nintendo Switch.

It'll kick off tomorrow, February 27, at 9AM ET, and will run for seven minutes.

It seems likely that this will be the reveal of the new Pokémon games for Nintendo Switch. If they're really doing this now we can expect a quick overview of the generation nomenclature, a look at the visual style, a few new mechanics and perhaps several new Pokémon.

Nintendo has announced a Pokemon Direct.

The eighth generation of Pokemon is officially due to hit Nintendo Switch sometime this year, so this would be a great time for Nintendo and developer Game Freak to tease out some details (Pokemon Sun and Moon were first officially announced on Pokemon Day three years ago). You can watch the stream right here on GameSpot. By comparison, seven minutes focusing on a single franchise is quite a bit of time.

Major League Baseball hot stove: Dodgers pursuing Bryce Harper again
Their ESPN colleague Buster Olney says any deal between Harper and the Dodgers would be a "very short-term" deal. Harper enters the 2019 season looking to bounce back from a 2018 campaign that saw him hit a career-low.249.

The new core Pokemon game was confirmed for Switch back at E3 2017, hot off the heels of the Switch's launch. November's Pokemon Let's Go was a remake rather than a true sequel. While they were well-received, the timing of their announcement left many fans to assume they were a stopgap measure in the meantime. Nintendo Treehouse is usually reserved for presentations about upcoming Pokemon games.

Nintendo isn't the only company celebrating Pokemon Day.

Hopefully we'll see some gameplay footage, learn how it connects with previous games in the series and see the starter Pokemon.

Wednesday's presentation comes just two weeks after the most recent Nintendo Direct, so we're in serious danger of a Nintendo goodness overdose.

As part of the celebrations, Kanto Pokemon will appear more frequently. Either way, we'll know soon enough.
