Rep. Ilhan Omar slammed yet again for 'anti-Semitic' tweets

Omar on Sunday responded on Twitter to a threat two days earlier by Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., to take action against her because of her past statements on Israel by saying, "It's all about the Benjamins baby", a reference to $100 bill featuring Benjamin Franklin.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn, reportedly retweeted then deleted a Twitter post that accused her of anti-Semitism after she was called out from both sides of the aisle for tweeting that the USA relationship with Israel is "all about the Benjamins, baby". "American politicians are pro-Israel because Americans are".

Representative Ilhan Omar, Democrat of Minnesota, speaks during a press conference calling on Congress to cut funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and to defund border detention facilities, outside the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C, February 7.

"If [Democrats] do not take action I think you'll see action from myself", McCarthy said.

Omar's response went viral and many accused her of promoting the anti-Semitic trope that Jews conspire to control government leaders by throwing loads of cash at them.

Omar has previously expressed regret over a 2012 tweet in which she claimed Israel was "hypnotizing" the world. "She might as well call us hook-nosed".

She said Mr Cotten died from complications linked to the disease, which disrupts digestion by causing inflammation of the bowels. Cotten's death certificate, issued by the Government of Rajasthan's Directorate of Economics and Statistics, has since surfaced.

"At a time when anti-Semitic attacks are on the rise, our leaders should not be invoking hurtful stereotypes and caricatures of Jewish people to dismiss those who support Israel", Rose continued.

"We should expect all elected officials, regardless of party, and all public figures to not traffic in anti-Semitism", she said.

Batya Ungar-Sargon, the opinion editor at the left-wing Forward - which is generally critical of Israel - tweeted in response that Omar's remark was antisemitic. "She might as well call us hooked-nosed". "And I believe we can do that without criticizing people for their faith", Omar tweeted at the former first daughter.

Omar wound up tweeting at Clinton that she would be happy to talk about building an "inclusive movement for justice" and added "we must call out smears from the GOP and their allies".

"We are proud that we are engaged in the democratic process to strengthen the US-Israel relationship", tweeted AIPAC.

In an interview with CNN last week, Omar said it was "exciting" that her anti-Semitic views were sparking debate "finally able to have conversations that we weren't really willing to".
