Rockets deal Ennis to the 76ers

Sixers acquire James Ennis in trade with Rockets according to source

Houston recently acquired Iman Shumpert in a three-team trade, which made Ennis expendable, as both players have very similar skill sets. Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium was first to report the trade.

On the surface, it looks like a move a team planning to contend should not be making, but somebody is going to lose serious time with Shumpert now on the roster and Ennis is the clear odd man out. On Wednesday, the Sixers acquired Richardson, the Raptors' 2022 second-round pick, and Emir Preldzic in exchange for cash considerations.

Ennis is 6-foot-7 and was selected in the second round of the 2013 draft by the Miami Heat (No. 50 overall).

Ennis has been a valuable reserve for the Rockets, averaging 7.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and a steal per game in 23.7 minutes per game.

Nasa's first mini-spacecraft in deep space go silent
Trajectory data suggests that Wall-E is more than 1 million miles past Mars with EVE being almost 2 million miles past Mars. NASA says it has lost contact with two tiny satellites that launched on a technology-proving mission to Mars a year ago .

On top of potentially making a defensive impact, Ennis III is shooting 36.7 percent from 3-point range this season.

The Sixers have loaded up on talent and depth this week after also acquiring Tobias Harris from the Los Angeles Clippers. The team doesn't now have much depth at the wing (see story). Outside of that, all the Sixers are taking on is the rest of Ennis' $1.62 million salary for this season.

The Rockets, who will create a $1.6 million trade exception with the deal, are inching their way closer to getting under the luxury tax.
