HBO has released a trailer for its upcoming four-part documentary The Case Against Adnan Syed.

Nearly 15 years after he was convicted of the murder of Hae Min Lee, there's going to be yet another four-part doc looking into his case which coincides with a new trial for the now 38-year-old.

As a huge fan of the first season of Serial (don't bother with the other two dreary seasons), I'm excited to learn what new information this might bring to light. No premiere date has been set but it is expected to go to air sometime this year.

The "new chapter in the story" will provide an overview of Syed's conviction in 2000, his pending re-trial, and the worldwide interest in the case after the first season of Serial.

The case gained global attention when, in 2014, it was featured on the podcast Serial.

The unsealing of the documents about the sex claims involving minors came at the request of The New York Times and Vice News . The court documents had originally been sealed after it was ruled they were "unrelated" to the drugs charges.

Serial host Sarah Koenig spent twelve episodes examining the facts of the case, interviewing Syed and several major players, and even going as far as to retrace Syed's steps to see if his involvement was plausible.

Hae Min Lee was reported missing by her family on the afternoon of January 13, 1999 after she failed to collect her young cousin from daycare that afternoon.

In June 2016, Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Martin P. Welch vacated Syed's conviction and granted him a new trial after new evidence challenged the reliability of cell phone data linking Syed to the crime scene, and a long-awaited alibi witness finally had her day in court.

Syed has maintained his not guilty plea in the murder, for which was sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years.

The Case Against Adnan Syed, which has been in production since 2015, returns to the case in order to closely re-examine the events leading up to Hae Min Lee's disappearance.
