A chain-reaction crash in Berks County during a snow squall left behind mangled cars and trucks Wednesday.

A multi-car wreck in Wyomissing, Pa., - which involved 27 vehicles, including two 18-wheelers and a dump truck - was reported at around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday on Route 222, according to local cops.

Footage from the scene shows jackknifed big rigs and some cars off the roadway and down embankments.

Snow squalls in NY and Pennsylvania led to several multi-car pileups throughout the day Wednesday - which left dozens of people injured, according to officials.

Update (4:35 p.m.): A spokesperson for Tower Health says that Reading Hospital has received nine patients from the crash. About 14 vehicles were involved and injuries are minor. Injuries were reported, though the total number remains unknown. A trooper suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash, police said.

In addition to the Wyomissing Police Department, state police and the Spring Township Police Department also responded.

Police say several people were trapped inside their vehicles, while others skidded off the road into a ravine.

In New York, all lanes are blocked on eastbound Interstate 90 because of a crash involving 21 vehicles, according to the NYS Police. Reading's visibility dropped to an eighth of a mile as the snow squall moved through along with wind gusts 35 to 40 miles per hour.
