Residents in Portland and Seattle who are more accustomed to rain than snow waited in long lines to buy shovels and de-icer. This should be light fluffy snow so there will be some "fluff factor" to give the advisory area 2 to 4 inches of accumulation, with a pocket of 5 or even a 6 possible depending on how fluffy it gets.

The second snowstorm is expected to start Monday and bring more snow than the one on Sunday.

With temperatures already in the teens or single digits, meteorologists predict low temperature records could be broken on Sunday.

According to the forecast for Kansas City, there is a 100 percent chance of snow after 3 a.m. Sunday with temperatures in the mid 20s.

School district officials throughout OR and southwest Washington were closely following the weather forecasts and storm tracking for Monday classes, KOIN-TV reported.

Valentine's Day on Thursday, Feb. 14 will be mostly sunny with a high around 40. The National Weather Service office in Eureka reported accumulating snow at sea level. KIEM-TV posted photos of Clam Beach in Arcata covered in fresh powder.

Residents of the Northwest are dealing with a heavy snowfall, and meteorologists say more is likely on the way.
