Woods ended Saturday 5 under on his third round and 6 under overall, seven strokes back of leader Justin Thomas.

Thomas began the third round with a 12-foot eagle putt and saved par before darkness halted play.

Bad weather in southern California has restricted play during the tournament, with Woods still having 11 holes to play in his third round.

Thomas, facing the prospect of playing 33-plus holes on Sunday, noted that the forecast also called for more rain and brisk winds.

"I'm going to need to be patient because I'm playing so many holes", he said, "stay in it emotionally and stay patient, see what we can do". That's what happens when golf's biggest superstar creates thrilling drama for fans tired after two days of weather delays.

Tiger Woods had Riviera rocking with cheers that could be heard a half-mile away, three birdies and an eagle in his opening four holes for his hottest start on the PGA Tour in almost 10 years.

Will Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas Have Kids Soon?
Jonas reportedly just stood back and let his wife "do her thing", posing for photographers at the premiere of her movie. Though the picture is slightly out of focus, she captioned the post, "Find someone who looks at you like that".

Hours earlier, he made a 25-foot birdie putt from the fringe on his final hole of the second round for a 71 to assure he would make the cut - he ultimately made it with one shot to spare, 10 shots out of the lead - and then he looked like a different player.

Woods has holed a healthy amount of lengthy putts this week, but it's the short ones that have given him issues. "Made a couple of putts", said Woods, whose struggles this week on the greens included four three-putts in the first round.

The pair started the round tied, before Thomas nearly holed out for albatross at the par-five first. "Hit a lot of good shots".

"I've got some work to do", Woods said.

Woods made further strides up the leaderboard when he drained a 20-foot putt for birdie at 12 and another from 15 feet at the 13th, and he will return to take on a tricky pitch and putt to save par on the 17th having decided it was too dark to complete the hole moments after the klaxons echoed around the course.
