Three members of the McLaren team were treated for minor burns and released after a small fire broke out in the outfit's garage in Barcelona on Friday.

They stated that a small fire broke out in the garage, which was quickly extinguished, though they took the three affected staff to the track's medical centre, before they were released shortly after admission.

It is not now known what caused the fire, which happened a day after the opening pre-season test came to a close.

The team is now assessing the MCL34 chassis to understand the extent of any damage. It is not yet clear whether the team has a spare chassis if one is required to carry out testing with next week.

Toro Rosso and McLaren agree release date for Technical Director James Key
Key's F1 career began with Jordan, who he joined in 1998, first as a data engineer and subsequently as a race engineer. In 2010, Key joined Sauber for a spell that lasted nearly two years before moving to Toro Rosso.

They could not say if the incident will affect their involvement in next week's final pre-season test at the track.

The British team, Racing Point and Williams were completing filming days, a day after the first pre-season test finished, with the trio permitted to do a series of laps within the 100km limit.

The team said they were checking their vehicle for damage.
