Time's Up CEO resigns after son accused of sexual assault organization says

Time's Up issued the statement after the Los Angeles Times reported that Ms Borders's son, Mr Garry "Dijon" Bowden Jr, was accused of violating a woman during a massage. She told the paper that Bowden - who had worked with her on wellness events - "touched her genitalia, kissed her neck and brushed his erect but clothed penis against her body" in January, during what he called a "healing session".

"It was not healing".

The news of Borders' abrupt resignation comes three days after she tweeted about appearing on Oprah Winfrey's "SuperSoul Conversations" on the OWN network and after announcing she would be the upcoming commencement speaker at her alma mater, Duke University.

Within 24 hours of Borders learning of the accusations against her son she had met with the Time's Up board to discuss her untenable position as CEO, the source said.

Borders was hired by Time's Up in October with much fanfare.

"Lisa's decision to step down was the right one for her - and for the organization", the person said.

Lisa Borders has resigned as president and CEO of Time's Up, the gender equality initiative formed in 2018, in response to sexual misconduct allegations in Hollywood.

Time's Up was created by more than 1,000 women in entertainment who joined forces to combat workplace sexual misconduct across industries.

"We can no longer stand by and tolerate women's voices not being heard", she said at a press conference announcing her appointment.

An attorney for Bowden disputed Gellert's claims and said Bowden's behavior was consensual.

Bowden denied the allegations against him. She went public with her experience on Facebook "because I don't want it to happen to anyone else", she said.

Time's Up has announced in a statement posted to Instagram that its former president and CEO Lisa Borders, who resigned February 18, did so after her son was accused of sexual assault in a "private forum".

"Within 24 hours, Lisa made the decision to resign as President and CEO of Time's Up, and we agreed that it was the right decision for all parties involved". "All of our actions were fully guided by our support for survivors [of sexual harassment and abuse]".
