McLaren: James Key to start next month after move from Toro Rosso

Key, who McLaren signed in July a year ago, will join the Woking-based squad as Technical Director on March 25 after an agreement was reached with Toro Rosso for his release.

McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown said it was the team's intention for Key to start in time for him to contribute to the development of the MCL34 and their new vehicle for the 2020 F1 season.

"Scuderia Toro Rosso and McLaren Racing confirm they have reached an agreement to settle the position of Mr James Key, who will be released by Scuderia Toro Rosso prior to the end of his existing contract arrangement on March 23rd 2019".

Egginton previously served as deputy technical director under Key at Faenza. Team principal Franz Tost revealed the planned move to RaceFans earlier this week.

Chelsea FC, The Football Association sanctioned for international transfers of minors
The club were found guilty of 29 incidences of breaching article 19, which relates to the transfer of players aged under 18. French website Mediapart, quoting documents from Football Leaks, reported that FIFA had scrutinised 19 Chelsea signings.

Along with McLaren's new managing director Andreas Seidl, Key will spearhead the team's efforts to restore its former lustre according to a long-term plan devised by chief executive Zak Brown.

Seidl is the former boss of Porsche's successful world endurance championship team.

Key's F1 career began with Jordan, who he joined in 1998, first as a data engineer and subsequently as a race engineer.

In 2010, Key joined Sauber for a spell that lasted nearly two years before moving to Toro Rosso. During his time at the Red Bull junior team Key has earned a reputation for producing aerodynamically innovative designs despite the team's comparatively limited resources.
