Iconic rockers R.E.M. are being hailed as the heroes the world needs right now, having managed to achieve the impossible task of removing a Tweet by Donald Trump.

R.E.M. bassist Mike Mills has responded to President Trump's re-tweeting of a parody video created by a right-wing fan of Trump's that featured the band's song "Everybody Hurts" Friday. He added later: "Measures have been taken to stop it", tagging Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey.

"Congress, media-ghost this faker!"

People who have made it their mission to troll the United States president on Twitter absolutely hated it - as did former R.E.M. member Mike Mills, who used rather salty language to demand Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey do something.

The video was removed from the President's Twitter account later that day.

Through their publisher, the band filed a copyright infringement notice, according to CNBC, and Twitter adhered to their request.

Colin Kaepernick To Patriots? Exiled QB’s Lawyer Predicts Shocking Move
Kaepernick played with the 49ers from 2013 to 2017, when he severed his contract with the team to become a free agent. Reid signed a three-year deal with the Panthers, CBS reports, earlier this week, for an estimated $22 million.

On Saturday, Trump retweeted a similar video by the same Twitter account, this one set to "God Bless the U.S.A." by Lee Greenwood.

This isn't the first time R.E.M. has tussled with Trump over use of its music.

In 2015 Trump played R.E.M.'s song 'It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine) as he was on the campaign trail, leading R.E.M.to fire back with a scathing message.

"You are a fraud, a charlatan, and a con man".

Then on Facebook they shared a statement saying they do not authorizing their music to be used at political events.

Both Mills and Stipe have been extremely open about their dislike for the president over the years, and during a live Q&A with NME in November 2017, the two discussed how their music related to the chaotic political state of America.
