"The TSB is deploying a team of investigators to the site of a Canadian Pacific train derailment near Field, British Columbia", reads a statement.

A Teamsters Canada Rail Conference union representative told The Canadian Press the crew had just taken over the train east of Field, B.C. He said two workers' bodies were found near the locomotive, which landed in the Kicking Horse River, and the third was still in the cab.

The lead locomotive came to rest on its side in a creek.

Carmichael says the freight train was parked and began to move on its own.

The ministry's David Karn says the situation is being monitored and there's no immediate word of fuel or other contaminants entering the water.

Investigators remained at the site of the crash Tuesday, braving frigid conditions and a hard scene that saw much of the 112-car; three-locomotive train plunge down a steep embankment.

A train CP train derailment that killed 3 was photographed on Monday February 4, 2019.

The lead locomotive and some of the cars derailed on a curve prior to a bridge.

Eric Collard, a spokesman with the TSB, said between 40 and 60 cars are believed to have derailed, adding the crash zone is fairly remote. "Can we do this one faster?' and he'd say 'No.' He'd always have his rule book out instructing guys on how to do it properly", said Mr. Dyson, a former conductor and locomotive engineer with CP from 2008 to 2016.

Conductor Dylan Paradis, engineer Andrew Dockrell and trainee Daniel Waldenberger-Bulmer died in the derailment.

According to CP Rail president and CEO Keith Creel, the derailment happened between the Upper and Lower Spiral Tunnels, which were built in the early 1900s to accommodate the steep grade change on the stretch of railway.

Brown and McCallum drafted into Scotland squad
Josh Strauss says a sold-out crowd should give Scotland a boost when they take on Ireland at Murrayfield on Saturday. The scrum-half told BBC Sport: "Against a quality opposition like Ireland, you can't release a Test match like that".

"That area is among the most challenging railway territory in North America".

The Transportation Safety Board will be providing an update on the investigation at 11 a.m.

"He loved his wife and children more than anything, he was hardworking, kind and had a great sense of humour", she said Monday evening.

Marie Armstrong, a friend of Ms. Paradis, said that Mr. Paradis was an "amazing person".

"I feel like half of me is gone now", Jeremy Waldenberger-Bulmer said of his late brother, Daniel. Jeremy said that the emptiness they now feel at home is "indescribable".

The CP crew members' names were released hours later, leading to an outpouring of grief from their friends and family.

Daniel only began as a trainee in November, moving to Calgary from Victoria, and was "excited to have a life of railroading", Jeremy said. "They were onboard but there are things they have to take care of before they leave, they have to do their checks and make sure all their paperwork is in place before they depart. We had big plans of living out our careers with CP Rail and retiring together to golf all over the world".

"At this time we still haven't got an exact number of how fast they were travelling". The Transportation Safety Board concluded not enough handbrakes were applied.

"It was not anything the crew did to the train to start it to move on its own", he said. "If the processes were done right and the behaviour was right, it has to be the equipment".
