An unusually powerful winter storm dropped over six inches on the Pacific Northwest city February 9 - a "new daily record" according to the National Weather Service, which also happens to report that more snow is on the way.

Hundreds of flights have been cancelled at Washington's Seattle-Tacoma and Portland International airports in recent days. Around 50,000 people lost power.

In Tualatin, Ore., resident Autumn Sang was mobbed during a visit to a grocery store to stock up on supplies.

After a break in the precipitation Sunday afternoon, the NWS predicts a second round of wintry weather will affect the region Sunday night into Monday with freezing rain, sleet and snow.

In Seattle, where such snow is a rarity, residents cleared out grocery store shelves and left work early Friday afternoon as the storm arrived.

Snow began falling north of Seattle with some areas recording 8 inches (20 centimeters) of snow before it made its way south and enveloped the city. She grew up in southern OR, where snow is more common, and wasn't fazed by the forecast.
