2 people dead at Grand Canyon after 2 incidents in single week

On Thursday, a man from Hong Kong was taking pictures at an overlook of the Grand Canyon when he slipped and fell, according to CNN. His body was recovered from 1,000 (305 meters) feet below the rim.

This was the second death at the Grand Canyon this week.

Eagle Point is situated alongside the Skywalk, a horseshoe-shaped glass bridge sticking out from the canyon wall.

The tourist's death comes two days after rangers and special agents responded to a fatality of a visitor near the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, according to a statement by the National Park Service (NPS).

The man, who is in his fifties, was taking photos when he stumbled and fell, Leibowitz said. He extended the tribe's prayers to the man's family.

All you have to do is circle back to last year's Sweet 16 game against the Seminoles when they turned it over 13 times. The Vols also will lose at least a pair of starters from this squad with Schofield and Alexander both seniors.

The area where the incident occurred has been closed for the day.

A helicopter was sent to retrieve the body 1,000ft (305m) below the rim. Park spokeswoman Vanessa Ceja-Cervantes revealed Thursday that the visitor had been identified as a foreign national, but wouldn't give their name, saying their relatives had not yet been informed. Authorities are also trying to identify the body of another person found on Tuesday evening south of Grand Canyon village.

About a dozen people are reported to die every year at the attraction, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, according to the BBC.

Grand Canyon National Park reports that it saw 6 million visitors and had 20 fatalities in 2017.

On average, the Grand Canyon sees two to three deaths each year from falls over the rim, park spokeswoman Kirby-Lynn Shedlowski told a website dedicated to the Grand Canyon.
