How Anthony Barr went from signing with the Jets to staying with the Vikings

Barr had a change of heart overnight and has chose to re-sign with the Vikings, CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora confirms.

Here's a look, pieced together through interviews with multiple league sources, at how Barr went from wanting to sign with the Detroit Lions, to agreeing to a deal with the Jets, to ultimately taking a pay cut to stay in Minnesota. Linebacker Anthony Barr had been reported to be heading to NY when free agency opens on Wednesday. He adds that Barr could earn up to $77.5 through incentives, and $33 million of the deal is guaranteed.

The Jets entered the offseason with about $100 million in salary cap space, and they have put it to good use. Last season, he recorded 39 tackles and three sacks. For his career, he has 13.5 sacks while averaging 68 tackles per season over five seasons.

Altmaier told French news agency AFP he could not comment on the letter's contents, but said that: "We will respond quickly". The legal amendments are still being finalized within Germany's ruling coalition, a ministry spokesman said.

The deal with the Vikings is reportedly worth $13.5 million per season.

Barr was the ninth overall pick in the 2014 draft by the Vikings.

Instead of heading to NY as a pass rushing linebacker, the four-time Pro Bowler became the second free agent in as many years to spurn a larger offer from the Jets, following what Kirk Cousins did last year. Teams also are allowed to back of any trade before that deadline; however, we hadn't seen that happen yet this year until news broke about Barr's decision.
