Arzoo Govitrikar Files Domestic Abuse Complaint Against Husband

In her complaint filed on 22 January, Arzoo accused her husband of "dragging her inside the bathroom around 4 am and hitting her viciously" and repeatedly slapping her under the influence of alcohol.

Bollywood starlet Arzoo Govitrikar, sister of model-actress Aditi Govitrikar, has reportedly filed a case against her husband, businessman Siddharth Sabharwal, claiming domestic violence. As per Arzoo's complaint, her husband assaulted her in an alcohol-fuelled rage, reported Mumbai Mirror.

Arzoo Govitrikar, who has featured in a few Hindi films and also TV serials, married Sabharwal in March 2010. Following the argument, Sabbarwal allegedly manhandled Govitrikar and locked her inside the washroom.Sabbarwal also threatened to cause danger to her family members, the complaint further alleged. In her complaint, the actress alleged she was manhandled by her husband often and also verbally abused her for months.

On Tuesday, Arzoo, accompanied by sister Aditi and actor Ashish Chaudhary, visited the Worli Police Station alleging that Siddharth had taken the custody of the couple's five-year-old child Aashman without her consent. She has also reportedly submitted CCTV footage from their home as evidence.

Siddharth has denied allegations of torture and termed the police complaint by Arzoo as drama. However, speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Siddharth Sabharwal said that Ms Govitrikar had "asked him to slap her" under the pretext of rehearsing for a crime show. "I will respond to these allegations at the right forum", he said.

Inspector Sukhlal Verpe from Worli Police Station refused to comment on the complaint and the status of investigation.
