Aston Villa's Grealish attacked by fan

Grealish was attacked by a Birmingham City supporter less than 10 minutes into Villa's game with their rivals at St. Andrew's.

It occurred in the first half when a man in a cap charged Grealish and used his right arm to hit him directly in the face.

The man sprinted onto the field in the ninth minute and struck Grealish with some force - to cheers from some in the home support.

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice was quick to react to the incident, tweeting: "Absolutely disgraceful what just happened to Jack Grealish". The man was quickly apprehended by security but not before some Villa players got their hands on him. He was led away by police, blowing kisses to the crowd as he left. "A Points deduction or Empty stadium for 10 games!"

The Aston Villa bench were all on their feet to check on Grealish while Birmingham City players came over to apologise to the Villa captain. "Further details to follow". The rest of the players also stayed reasonably composed, despite the alarming incident.
